All systems constructed in the Penthouse starting from design through construction were the responsibility of icon Mechanical. This would include structural, concrete, drywall, electrical, plumbing and mechanical installation.
All the major systems would be fabricated in modules months before needed. A total of 8 pumps skids weighing as much as 30,000 lbs each were shop fabricated as well as over 20 pipe racks and modules weighing in some cases over 30,000 lbs and 70’ long. All of the chillers, boilers, pumps and pipe racks would be set in place in a couple weeks so that only final connections to equipment would be necessary. Total time to construct the Penthouse and have chilled water online was 6 months. This method would be the only way to construct this Penthouse in that time period.
