icon Mechanical was the mechanical engineer and contractor for this project which serves as a manufacturing facility and office space for the manufacture of Blue Origin’s next generation, liquid-fuel rocket engines.

The 400,000 square-foot Blue Origin facility is located on 46-acres and contains a significant amount of automation, machining, cleaning, assembly integration, avionics components, building and testing, and advanced industrial welding.

Amazon CEO, Jeff Bezos owns Blue Origin and constructed the jet engine manufacturing plant for the purpose of building the BE-4, touted as the world’s most powerful engine fueled by liquified natural gas.

Project Scope

icon Mechanical delivered the design and prefabrication of high-pressure technical gas systems. icon's scope spanned multiple technical gas types and pressure alongside multiple large-scale ISO clean rooms and the design and installation management of 30 HVAC rooftop units.

  • Nitrogen gas loops: 6,000 PSI, 3,000 PSI, and 150 PSI
  • Argon gas loop: 350 PSI
  • Compressed-air loop
  • ISO clean rooms
  • HVAC: 30 rooftop units
