As the design-assist partner engineer, icon Mechanical delivered the mechanical scope on the core and shell of this 20-story, 566,000 SF Class A office tower—Amazon's Operations Center of Excellence—and its adjacent 600,000 SF parking garage in downtown Nashville, TN.
icon prefabricated to the maximum extent possible, the key to keeping this fast-track project on pace. Working a parallel construction path, icon's installation team set equipment and components on the night shift while the building was still being erected, compressing the schedule by building up and out at the same time.
Scope of Work
Mechanical — Delivery & Install
- (20) Daikin vertical self-contained units
- (2) cooling towers, with sand filter
- Parking garage exhaust system
icon Prefabrication (Granite City, IL — HQ Shop)
- VAVs pre-assembled with discharge duct and control sensors before transport
- Pipe and duct risers modularized in-shop, then set by tower crane in 4-story lifts — only two hours of crane time per set
- 16,000 lb condenser pump skid prefabricated and modularized to the site
