icon Mechanical was selected to retrofit 185,000 SF of existing space into a 12.5MW data center. Scope included upgrading existing systems, building out shell space, and retrofitting the chilled-water system with separate loops to meet the facility's new cooling demands. icon performed all work while a portion of the data center remained active, coordinating closely with the operator to safeguard uptime, safety, and quality throughout construction.

Mechanical — Shell-to-Data-Center Retrofit
- Installed new water-cooled chillers and cooling towers
- Overhauled existing hydronic system for the change of use:
- Re-routed and re-designed chilled-water loops for multiple delivery temperatures
- Re-worked existing pumps for new flow rates
- Built out existing shell space for the data center tenant
- Installed 48 close-coupled coolers
- Routed roof-mounted and indoor piping to minimize downtime and avoid congested corridors
