icon Mechanical served as the Design/Build Contractor for this $75 million scientific research building. This 170,000 square foot, state-of-the art research facility houses offices, laboratories, cold rooms, growth chambers, greenhouses, meeting rooms an auditorium, library and dining center.
icon Mechanical was responsible for designing the 1,700 ton chilled water plant that serves both the HVAC system and laboratory process systems. Since some lab experiments, requiring chilled water, last years, the system was designed such that it will never need to be shut down for maintenance.
Due to the sophisticated nature of this facility, it was imperative that a detailed and rigorous commissioning program be implemented throughout the design and construction. icon Mechanical played a significant role in the commissioning of this facility by authoring many of the commissioning procedures in addition to acting as the Commissioning Test Contractor responsible for performing all of the tests on some of the most complex systems in buildings.
This building was completed in November 2001. Upon completion of this facility, icon Mechanical was identified by Peter Downs of STL Construction Net as one of the leading companies with laboratory and science design/construction experience.
icon mechanical served as the mechanical contractor for the buildout of the 12th and 14th floors at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital. Upon completion, the medical center will feature a footprint of more than 1,000,000 square feet and a total capacity of 401 patient beds.
