This 114,000 square foot center for Biomedical Engineering Education was completed December 2002. This $34,000,000 four-story building houses a 5,000 square foot Vivarium, 18 individual wet and dry laboratories, 27 procedure rooms, an auditorium capable of seating 230 people, classrooms and administrative spaces.
icon Mechanical was responsible for the value engineering and redesign of numerous highly critical systems. Those systems included the fuel oil system serving the emergency generator and hot water boilers, the compressed air system, the process steam system, steam humidification system, natural gas distribution system, and the process chilled water loop that included a 60-ton process chiller.
icon Mechanical’s responsibilities in the commissioning of the building included authoring guidelines to commission some of the atypical building value engineered systems as well as serving as the Test Contractor responsible for commissioning the various mechanical, laboratory, and controls systems within this facility.
