icon Mechanical served as the design-assist mechanical contractor for the Couch Biomedical Research Building, a LEED Silver certified, six-story, 181,000 SF research laboratory facility for Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. The cutting-edge facility houses tissue culture rooms, cold rooms, autoclaves, and a full suite of high-performance mechanical systems designed to support advanced biomedical research.

icon's value engineering approach delivered substantial cost savings without compromising quality. icon worked closely with the KJWW Engineers and Christner Architects to provide cost effective mechanical systems that met the end users’ needs, while also saving construction cost for the University. These cost savings allowed the Owner to add additional scope to the project while still maintaining the original GMP.
