icon Mechanical served as the design/build mechanical contractor for this Kraft facility expansion. The project required a new mechanical room, HVAC across three building expansions, piping for new process equipment, and a new product assembly line.
The key to maintaining Kraft's production during construction was icon's approach to prefabrication: all stainless process piping was shop-fabricated into 40-foot, three-tier overhead sections—complete with flanged connections and insulation—allowing installation to proceed with minimal production interference and enabling fabrication to begin before building steel arrived on site. The mechanical room and capacity expansion were completed in seven months. The new product process and assembly line went from concept to operational in under five months, despite multiple equipment delivery delays.
